Pieter
Delobelle, PhD researcher with the unit on
Declarative Languages and Artificial Intelligence, explains how to share code
using Git. When collaborating with other researchers, code could be shared via
classic cloud services. However, it may not always be clear which edits
collaborators have made, or simultaneous edits can lead to conflicted copies. Git
can solve such version conflicts. Even when working alone, Git is useful to step
back to previous states of code (commits) in case of problems, thereby avoiding
having to redo work in case of malfunction. Code and models can be shared via a
Git repository through Github or Gitlab or KU Leuven Gitlab.
